Investment Advisor

1) Your primary role will be resident within the client management team where you will be responsible for a number of Discretionary, Advisory and Execution-Only clients. This position will cover the following duties:

•  communicate investment ideas which are identified by the firm to the appropriate clients in accordance with the investment mandate given to us by the client in terms of risk and return;
•  regularly review discretionary and advisory portfolios to ensure that the investments held are in line with the respective investment parameters;
•  communicate any necessary changes in structure to either reflect changes in market conditions or changes in the client’s investment profile;
•  prepare investment recommendations for new clients;
•  handle a number of execution-only clients;
•  identify opportunities to grow your client base through networking and investment presentations to prospective clients; and
•  from time to time, you will also be required to trade on the Malta Stock Exchange. 

Initially the points above will be performed under the direct supervision of one of the senior client managers. However, once your probationary period is over, you will be expected to execute all of the above roles without constant supervision.

In order to fulfil this role you would need to:
•  keep yourself updated with the firm’s latest thinking in terms of investment ideas and asset allocations;
•  keep yourself updated by reading various chronicles and articles;
•  attend the firm’s investment committee meeting which is held on a weekly basis during which your opinion and ideas are expected to be heard;
•  have the initiative to maintain a certain level of discipline and organisation to ensure that you are always on top of your role and responsibilities; and
•  undergo a training program in order to trade on the Malta Stock Exchange.

In addition to this primary role you would also be expected to:
•  bring to the table new investment ideas which you believe have merit; and 
•  voice any specific or generic investment strategy for consideration from a portfolio structure point of view.

Your initial designation will be that of Investment Advisor and you will report directly to the Head of Investment & Portfolio Management Team within the firm with whom regular meetings will be held in order to:
• determine the structure, strategy and methodology which will be implemented to achieve the ultimate corporate objective;
• monitor progress;
• ensuring the validity of the originally identified elements mentioned in point 1 above; and
• constantly discuss how the service can be improved.

2)    To be responsible for maintaining an adequate standard of dress and personal appearance compatible with the working environment in which she carries out duties and with the post she occupies.

3)    Any other commensurate duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time by the Employer.

4)    Any other duties commensurate to the Designation as may be obligatory according to law.

The Employee shall devote their full best efforts, working time and attention to the business of the Employer and to such duties as are consistent with their position and shall moreover act in a diligent and prudent manner, safeguard the Employer’s interests and refrain from acting in a manner or making statements which could or may prejudice the business, interests or reputation of the Employer, whether during or after working hours including outside of the workplace. In so doing the Employee shall use all proper means in their power to maintain, protect, improve and extend the business, reputation and interests of the Employer (and of any Group Company of the Employer) and therefore shall (i) Act in utmost good faith as a fiduciary of the Employer; (ii) Comply with all lawful orders, directions and policies given by the Employer from time to time and supply any information that may be requested by the Employer at any time; (iii) Keep themselves informed about, respect and adhere to any internal regulations and general policies of the Employer as amended from time to time; (iv) Meet such targets and/or key performance indicators as the Employer may from time to time reasonably require; and (v) Comply with applicable laws.
